This 60-minute workshop focuses on teacher-trainer course design for English-medium instruction (EMI) and its transformative role in international colleges and universities. Participants will explore various curriculum model options that effectively integrate English language learning with subject content, fostering an immersive educational experience for both teachers and students. We will examine innovative assessment strategies tailored to English medium contexts, ensuring that evaluations reflect students' language and content mastery. Additionally, the workshop will address essential teacher support mechanisms, highlighting professional development opportunities and resources that empower educators to thrive in English medium settings. The workshop will include activities where participants will discuss and share opinions and experiences. The activities are intended for everyone to participate actively to foster more interaction and less lecturing so that the experience can be more memorable and beneficial to specific professional purposes. Biography

Oronde N. Freeman is an ESL instructor specializing in areas such as EAP and ESP
instruction. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English: Writing and Rhetoric from Georgia
Gwinnett College. He earned a master’s degree in applied linguistics and an
international TESOL certification at Georgia State University.

Oronde has over 15 years of ESL experience as an instructor, supervisor, and lead teacher. He enjoys collaborating with program stakeholders to design and implement bridge courses that help international students to transition into post-secondary education and career entry.

Oronde currently serves as an English Fellow at the University of Information Technology (UIT) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He is responsible for assignments including first-year English course instruction, design and instruction of staff customer service and IELTS speaking preparation courses. He also moderates the UIT Book Club and is preparing a teacher training course for English Medium Instruction (EMI).
