Speaker
Description
As Vietnam moves from traditional EFL models toward an ESL-oriented future, teachers are increasingly being asked to help students use English more actively, confidently, and meaningfully both inside and outside the classroom. This transition reflects changing educational priorities that emphasize communication, interaction, collaboration, authentic language use, and the growing role of English in academic, professional, and global contexts.
This highly interactive session explores how educators can respond to these changing expectations through engaging, student-centered learning experiences grounded in communicative and active learning principles. Drawing on experience in teacher training and educational development across Vietnam and Southeast Asia, the presenter will share hands-on activities, adaptable teaching strategies, and practical approaches that encourage increased student engagement, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world language use.
Rather than focusing primarily on theory or policy, the session emphasizes realistic techniques that educators can immediately apply in their own teaching contexts. Participants will experience and discuss a variety of interactive approaches designed to promote communicative learning, balance fluency and accuracy, increase learner confidence, and create more dynamic and supportive learning environments.
Participants will leave the session with concrete strategies, adaptable activities, and practical ideas to help them successfully navigate Vietnam’s transition from EFL to ESL while preparing students with the communication skills needed for future academic, professional, and global success.
