Description

The modernization of English-language programs in ASEAN is attracting significant interest from universities seeking to align programs with current and future employment opportunities through Outcome-Based Education (OBE). To align effectively within an OBE framework, university programs require a comprehensive understanding of current and future job markets to establish relevant and measurable learning outcomes. This is a critical step in curriculum modernization.
This training workshop offers a process for identifying stakeholders and understanding their needs as the basis for OBE-driven curriculum modernization. It is designed specifically for curriculum developers, educators, and academic staff, especially in English language programs. Stakeholders are individuals or groups who can directly or indirectly affect or be affected by the programs.
The primary learning outcome is to equip participants to identify key stakeholders for conducting an effective market survey that drives OBE design. For instance, recognizing "Employers of English language program graduates" is critical to defining the specific skill requirements needed to ensure graduates achieve targeted outcomes.
The training uses engaging collaborative activities, where participants work in groups to brainstorm, map, and visualize stakeholders and identify clear rationales for selection aligned with OBE. Digital tools like Duck Race Name Picker, Padlet, ChatGPT, and Mentimeter are incorporated to drive participation.
Ultimately, this workshop underscores a crucial takeaway: the success of the market surveys depends on identifying the key stakeholders early in the curriculum modernization process.
