Description
Traditional vocabulary instruction in Vietnamese primary EFL classrooms often relies on textbook-based approaches that may limit young learners’ engagement and classroom participation. With the increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and STEAM education, innovative classroom practices can provide more interactive and learner-centered learning experiences for primary students.
This exploratory classroom-based study investigates how AI-assisted STEAM activities may enhance vocabulary engagement among Grade 4 learners in a Vietnamese primary school context. Approximately 30 students participate in a series of vocabulary lessons integrating AI-generated visuals, collaborative learning tasks, and simple STEAM-oriented projects. AI-supported visual materials are used to create interactive vocabulary activities related to familiar topics for young learners.
Data are collected through classroom observations, learner feedback, and vocabulary-based classroom tasks to examine students’ participation and responses to AI-assisted learning experiences. The expected findings suggest that AI-assisted STEAM activities may increase learners’ motivation, classroom interaction, and active vocabulary use. The study also highlights the potential of integrating AI and STEAM approaches into primary English classrooms to support more engaging and meaningful language learning experiences.
