Description
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, with tools such as ChatGPT providing significant support for many academic activities, particularly in English writing. Although these tools show considerable potential for enhancing writing performance, learners’ acceptance of ChatGPT-generated recommendations in writing should be considered. Therefore, this study aims to examine the key factors influencing the acceptance of ChatGPT recommendations in English writing among students at at a University in Vietnam. The study is grounded in an integrated framework combining the Diffusion of Innovation Theory and the Stimulus-Organism-Response model. Qualitative and quantitative method have been used; data were collected from third-year English-major students and analyzed with SmartPLS 4.0. The findings reveal that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, and Social Influence positively influence students’ behavioral intention to use ChatGPT in English writing tasks. In addition, Personal Innovativeness and Information Accuracy were found to play moderating roles in the relationship between behavioral intention and students’ acceptance of ChatGPT recommendations in English writing. This study is expected to contribute to the growing body of research on AI-assisted language learning by offering empirical insights into students’ acceptance of generative AI technologies in higher education. Furthermore, it provides practical implications for educators and institutions regarding the effective integration of AI tools into English writing instruction, thereby enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in the context of rapid technological advancement and global educational integration.
