Description

This presentation explores the practical integration of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in designing engaging, differentiated materials for Vietnamese high school EFL classrooms in under-resourced suburban contexts. The session addresses common public-school challenges, including large classes, mixed-ability learners, and unstable internet connectivity. Drawing on principles of multimodal learning and differentiated instruction, the presentation demonstrates how accessible platforms such as Suno and NotebookLM can support practical and sustainable classroom instruction. Examples include AI-generated songs for vocabulary and grammar revision, differentiated worksheets, and multimodal activities designed to enhance learner engagement, confidence, and participation. Based on classroom implementation, the session shares step-by-step workflows, adaptable prompting strategies, sample student products, and learner feedback as evidence of pedagogical effectiveness. Crucially, students are guided to use AI responsibly through discussions of ethics, copyright awareness, and academic integrity. Beyond classroom implementation, the practices introduced have also been shared through school-based professional workshops and interdisciplinary teacher support activities involving subjects such as Literature and Geography. In addition, the session discusses challenges related to AI reliability and the continuing central role of teachers in guiding context-appropriate integration. By promoting greater interaction and exposure to English through accessible technology, the session reflects ongoing efforts in Vietnam to support communicative, interaction-oriented English learning environments. Ultimately, participants will leave with adaptable workflows, prompting techniques, and classroom-ready ideas applicable to similar educational contexts.
