Description

In the context of globalization and rapid digital transformation in higher education, universities are increasingly expected to equip students with competencies that enhance both global readiness and employability. However, limited research has examined how different forms of foreign language learning contribute to employability outcomes through the development of global readiness. This study investigates the mediating role of global readiness in the relationship between digital and international-oriented foreign language learning experiences and students’ global competencies in Vietnamese universities. A survey was conducted with 320 undergraduate students from Vietnamese universities, and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results indicate that both digital foreign language learning and international-oriented foreign language learning significantly predict students’ global readiness, which in turn has a strong positive effect on global competencies. The findings also confirm the mediating role of global readiness in the relationship between foreign language learning experiences and global competencies. These results highlight the importance of integrating digital technologies and internationally oriented learning practices into foreign language education to better prepare students for participation in a globalized workforce. The study contributes to the literature on language education, digital learning, and global competence by demonstrating how foreign language learning environments can foster competencies that support students’ readiness for global engagement and intercultural contexts.
