Description
This study examined the pedagogical performance and intercultural development of Filipino student-teachers participating in an international internship program in Bangkok, Thailand. Anchored on Knight’s internationalization framework and Kolb’s experiential learning theory, the research investigated how international teaching practicum contributes to teacher preparation in Southeast Asia. Using a descriptive-evaluative design, twenty Filipino pre-service teachers from the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies program of Mindanao State University–General Santos City participated in a two-week international internship in partnership with Phranakhon Rajabhat University Secondary Demonstration School. Data were collected using the university’s standardized Teaching Evaluation Matrix and qualitative mentor feedback. Findings revealed an overall performance rating of 4.1 interpreted as Highly Effective. Communication skills received the highest rating, while lesson planning and instructional material preparation obtained comparatively lower ratings. Qualitative findings highlighted adaptability, intercultural communication competence, and professionalism as strengths of the student-teachers. The study concludes that international teaching internships significantly contribute to pedagogical growth, intercultural competence, and professional readiness among Filipino pre-service teachers in ASEAN educational contexts.
