Description

This workshop explores how reflective practice and ethical AI integration can support sustainable professional development for lower secondary EFL teachers in Vietnam. In the context of increasing educational demands and rapid technological change, many teachers experience workload pressure, limited opportunities for reflection, and uncertainty about the effective use of AI in teaching. Grounded in reflective teaching theory and teacher professional learning frameworks, the session presents practical strategies that encourage teachers to become more autonomous, confident, and reflective practitioners. The workshop demonstrates how AI tools such as ChatGPT and automated feedback platforms can be used responsibly to support lesson planning, material adaptation, classroom reflection, and self-evaluation while maintaining teacher agency and professional identity. Participants will engage in guided reflection activities, collaborative discussion, and the design of AI-assisted teaching tasks based on authentic classroom situations. Classroom evidence and teacher feedback from local practice indicate improvements in teaching efficiency, confidence, and student engagement. By the end of the session, participants will gain practical approaches to integrating AI ethically, reducing professional workload, and developing supportive communities of practice that contribute to long-term professional growth and teacher wellbeing.
