Description

In recent years, AI has been changing the way ESL students learn languages, especially in vocabulary learning. However, many ESL students still use AI tools to learn vocabulary ineffectively. Therefore, this study explores ESL students' perceptions of using ChatGPT specifically for vocabulary development. Grounded by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the research employs a mixed-methods approach involving 100 ESL students at a college in Ho Chi Minh City. Data are collected through questionnaires for all participants and follow-up interviews with 10 students to fully understand their experiences. The findings reveal the relationship between students' perceptions and Actual Use (AU) of ChatGPT in linguistic development. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for both educators and students in effectively integrating AI-assisted tools into English language learning.
