Description
In response to the digital transformation in education and the requirements of the 2018 General Education Curriculum, this initiative aims to improve Grade 11 students’ English writing skills through the “AI Writing Assistant Classroom” model. Many students at Nguyen Duy Thi High School faced difficulties in grammar, vocabulary, coherence, and idea development due to limited timely feedback in traditional classrooms. The model integrates Google Docs, Grammarly, and ChatGPT into a structured multi-step writing process, allowing students to draft, receive automated feedback, revise, and refine their essays. Teachers act as facilitators, guiding students in effectively using AI tools while ensuring meaningful learning. The initiative was implemented in two Grade 11 classes (79 students). Pre- and post-assessment results show significant improvement: the percentage of students achieving “Good” scores increased by around 20% in both classes, while the proportion of underperforming students decreased sharply to about 5%. Beyond improved scores, students demonstrated greater autonomy, confidence, and engagement in writing. The model is cost-effective, feasible, and adaptable to other high school contexts, contributing to enhanced writing quality and supporting digital transformation in education.
