Description

This poster presents a practical classroom project that integrates the Canva AI website builder into secondary English language teaching to support learner autonomy. Based on autonomous learning principles, the project addresses a common challenge in lower secondary classrooms: many students struggle to remember vocabulary and to develop consistent self-study habits. To address this issue, I designed a vocabulary review system using interactive mini-websites created with Canva AI tools. The websites allowed students to review vocabulary at their own pace through short multimedia tasks, vocabulary games, and instant feedback activities. The project was implemented over one academic year with two sixth-grade classes, and classroom observations together with formative assessment results showed noticeable improvements in student engagement, vocabulary retention, and independent learning habits. In this session, participants will learn how generative AI tools can support rapid and affordable educational website design without requiring coding skills. The poster will present simple design guidelines, examples of student-created websites, and practical evaluation methods that teachers can adapt to their own contexts. Overall, the project offers a scalable, resource-efficient approach to extending language learning beyond the classroom through accessible, AI-supported tools.
