Description

In the era of digital transformation in education and the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the integration of AI-powered tools into English language teaching has emerged as a promising approach to enhancing students’ communicative competence and academic performance. This study investigates the effectiveness of AI-assisted learning in improving English presentation skills among Cohort 1 English Majors at Trade Union University. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the study involved 66 students who were assigned to either an experimental group or a control group. Students in the experimental group were trained to utilize AI-based applications, including ChatGPT, QuillBot, and 4English, to support the preparation and delivery of presentations, whereas those in the control group followed conventional instructional practices.
Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments and subsequently analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistical methods. The findings reveal that students exposed to AI-assisted learning demonstrated substantially greater improvement in several dimensions of presentation performance, particularly in content organization, pronunciation accuracy, language fluency, and self-confidence. Furthermore, the integration of AI tools fostered learner autonomy, facilitated personalized learning experiences, and provided timely feedback that supported continuous skill development.
The study concludes that the application of AI in English language education is both feasible and pedagogically effective for enhancing presentation skills among university students. Based on the findings, several recommendations are proposed to support the systematic integration of AI technologies into English language curricula and classroom practices, thereby contributing to the modernization and improvement of foreign language education in higher education institutions.
