Description

This study investigates the use of Quizlet to enhance vocabulary acquisition among secondary school students in an EFL context in Vietnam. Although vocabulary plays a crucial role in language proficiency, many students still rely on traditional memorization methods that often reduce engagement and limit long-term retention. As digital learning tools become increasingly popular in language education, the study explores whether Quizlet can provide a more interactive and motivating approach to vocabulary learning. The study aims to examine the extent to which Quizlet improves students’ vocabulary acquisition and to explore learners’ attitudes toward the application. Approximately 75 sixth-grade students at a public secondary school in Hanoi participated in the eight-week action research study. The participants were divided into two groups, including a traditional learning group and a Quizlet-based learning group. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, and a questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale. The findings are expected to indicate that Quizlet can significantly improve students’ vocabulary retention, increase classroom engagement, and promote greater learning autonomy. Students are also anticipated to demonstrate positive attitudes toward the integration of Quizlet into vocabulary learning activities. The study provides practical implications for teachers seeking to incorporate technology into vocabulary instruction and contributes to the growing body of research on digital tools in EFL education.
