Description
Project-based learning (PBL) is widely recognized for promoting authentic communication, collaboration, creativity, and learner autonomy in EFL classrooms. However, in many Vietnamese high school contexts, project lessons are often limited by students’ difficulty in generating original ideas, unequal participation in group work, and overreliance on text-heavy presentations. As a result, project products may lack creativity, meaningful communication, and student ownership. With the rapid development of generative artificial intelligence (AI), teachers now have new opportunities to redesign project work in more engaging and pedagogically meaningful ways. This hands-on workshop introduces Microsoft Copilot as a practical tool for supporting students throughout the project creation process, from brainstorming ideas to producing multimodal project products. Drawing on classroom implementation in Vietnamese urban high school settings, the presenter will demonstrate how Copilot can support students in developing multimodal project products through AI-assisted brainstorming, visual design, and speaking preparation. The workshop will also explore how guided prompting and teacher scaffolding can support more responsible and effective AI use during collaborative learning activities. Through classroom demonstrations, interactive tasks, and student work samples, participants will experience practical strategies adaptable to different proficiency levels and teaching contexts. The session will highlight how AI-assisted project work can promote multimodal communication, student agency, learner engagement, and more meaningful language use in EFL classrooms. By the end of the workshop, participants will gain practical tools and pedagogical strategies for transforming traditional project lessons into more creative, student-centered, and interactive learning experiences.
