With the increasing importance of global issues, there is a growing concern about how education can effectively promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The purpose of this study is to investigate the integration of SDGs in Global Success 6 textbook by Hoang Van Van and how students engage with these goals in their English lessons. The study has three objectives: (1) to identify which units in the textbook include SDG themes; (2) to explore students' attitudes towards the SDGs and assess their understanding after each theme; (3) to provide effective methods for integrating global citizenship education into English language teaching for grade 6 students. The study involved 72 students at the beginning level and utilized a mixed-method approach . The questionnaire approach was used to measure students' awareness of environmental and global issues related to specific SDGs, as well as their engagement with the lessons. The findings revealed that 5 units in the textbook refer to SDG 9, SDG 11, SDG 13, and SDG 15. This suggests the potential for integrating SDGs into the English syllabus to promote both linguistic competence and global awareness. Furthermore, the study supports the need for English language materials to more purposefully address sustainable development.
