Abstract

The purpose of the quantitative study was to determine the prevalence of variables related to information communication technology adoption and to find out whether there is any correlation among all the variables. Six research questions guided this study: (a) What are the EFL teachers’ attitudes and perceptions towards Information Communication Technology? (b) What is EFL teachers’ level of ICT Continuous Professional Development received in the past 18 months? (c) To what extent do EFL teachers perceive their ICT competence? (d) To what extent do EFL teachers intend to use ICT in their English language teaching? (e) How often do EFL teachers incorporate ICT in their classroom? (f) What are the correlations between attitude, competence, intention, and adoption of ICT in English language teaching? Participants included local and expat EFL teachers from four private schools in Phnom Penh. Data collection methods included an online survey questionnaire via Google Form. Data analysis methods included descriptive data and correlational bivariate. Findings yielded ….: (a) positive attitudes and perceptions towards ICT, (b) moderate extent of ICT Continuous Professional Development, (c) positive perception of their ICT competence, (d) moderate intention to use ICT in their English language teaching, (e) moderate ICT incorporation in teaching, and (f) the medium and large correlation between attitudes, perceptions, ICT continuous professional development, competence, intention to use, and ICT adoption.

Biography

Kossapol Chhay is a dedicated TESOL educator with over seven years of experience teaching English. He holds a Master’s degree in TESOL and currently serves as a lecturer at the Institute of Foreign Language. Passionate about online learning and the integration of technology in language education, his research examines the connections between attitudes and perceptions towards ICT, ICT Continuous Professional Development, ICT competence, intention to use ICT, and ICT usage among EFL teachers. Through his work, he seeks to deepen the understanding of how these factors influence technology adoption in English language teaching. At VietTESOL 2025, he will share insights on the role of ICT in shaping sustainable language education practices.
