In an increasingly interconnected and globalized world, English language educators must be prepared not only to teach language, but also to foster intercultural competence and global citizenship. This presentation explores how teacher training programs can equip educators with the digital tools, pedagogical strategies, and intercultural understanding necessary to facilitate cross-border and virtual exchange classrooms. It showcases successful projects that connect students from Vietnam with peers abroad through collaborative activities, emphasizing communication, empathy, and real-world problem solving. The session also provides practical guidance on selecting technology platforms, designing engaging tasks, and managing virtual classroom dynamics. By highlighting both opportunities and challenges, this talk aims to empower teachers to become facilitators of meaningful intercultural learning in the digital age.
Biography
I am a lecturer at Hanoi Vocational College of Electromechanics and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEExpert) for five consecutive years. With 16 years of experience in Education and a strong passion for pedagogical innovation, I actively integrates technology, digital platforms, and active teaching methods into my lessons, fostering students’ digital literacy and critical thinking. I also represents Vietnam in global classroom connection projects, actively promoting cross-border learning models that integrate education, English, and global citizenship education to broaden students’ social awareness and international competence. I hope to share effective practices in integrating technology, education, and social responsibility into vocational education, while seeking collaboration opportunities to promote sustainable educational values.
