Description
This presentation explores the use of student-created podcasts as a dynamic method to improve English language skills among high school students. While podcasts are widely available as listening resources, their use as a student production tool is still rarely applied in Vietnamese classrooms.
Over a six-week project with Grade 11 students, learners worked in small groups to script, record, and publish short podcast episodes on topics of interest, such as school life, social issues, or teen experiences. The process involved brainstorming, drafting scripts, practicing pronunciation, and editing audio recordings.
The results showed noticeable improvements in students’ speaking fluency, listening comprehension, and collaborative skills. Students also developed greater confidence in using English for real communication. Moreover, the task-based nature of podcasting motivated even reluctant learners and encouraged creativity.
Despite some challenges—such as limited access to recording tools, time management, and technical know-how—students found the experience enjoyable and meaningful. The session will provide practical steps, sample project outlines, and free tools teachers can use to bring podcasting into the classroom.
This presentation is ideal for educators interested in integrating technology to enhance both language input and output while fostering learner autonomy and digital literacy.
