Description
The integration of technology has significantly influenced learners’ approaches to English language learning, particularly in rural areas, marking a new era of digital empowerment that fosters learner autonomy. This study was conducted at some high schools in rural areas to examine key factors affecting the development of learner autonomy through technology use. The research focused on variables such as access to digital resources, teacher support, learners’ digital literacy, and motivation. The findings revealed a positive correlation between these factors and the level of learner autonomy achieved. Furthermore, differences in learners’ perceptions were observed across gender, English proficiency levels, and availability of technological infrastructure in rural classrooms. Based on the results, recommendations were made to enhance the effective and sustainable use of technology to promote learner autonomy in rural English language learning contexts
