Description
This study looked at the use of applications in second language writing to assess the type of applications that second language learners commonly use. It also compared the use of more traditional applications to newer ones that employ AI. To do this, a questionnaire that assessed students’ use of technology in writing was completed by learners studying in an English medium instruction university in the United Arab Emirates (n=186). The results of this investigation highlighted notable differences between the use more traditional assistive technology and AI applications; revealing that learners utilized “traditional” applications more frequently than AI-based technology, and that these applications may help students to learn about second language writing and language use.
