Description

Abstract
This research explores the utilization of technological tools in enhancing learner’s interaction with the participation of one hundred and twenty first-year non-English major students and five instructors in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes at International School, Vietnam National University (VNU-IS). The researchers employed a mixed-method approach, using both survey questionnaire and interviews carried out with both students and teachers to gather quantitative and qualitative data. The outcomes demonstrate that technology greatly boosts learner engagement and fosters teacher-student and student-student interaction in the context of ESP classes. However, the adaptation of technology poses some specific challenges, namely low technological proficiency, possible distractions, isolation and accessibility problems. Based on these results, it can also be implied that the effectiveness of technology employment mainly relies on several factors such as student preparation and readiness, adequate university facilities along with teacher support. The study highlights some pedagogical implications like tailored teacher training, improved technological support, and refined instructional materials. These recommendations not only help ESP teachers and learners overcome the obstacles but also maximize successful technology application. The findings make a significant contribution to educators and institutions in modernizing ESP teaching practices through the intergation of technological devices.
